CALDWELL, N.J. – The Caldwell College men's soccer team earned its fourth consecutive victory, 2-0 over Philadelphia University in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game Saturday afternoon at Caldwell Field. With the win, the Cougars improve to 4-4-1 overall and 3-2 in league play, while the Rams drop to 5-4-4, 2-3-3 CACC.
Caldwell broke a scoreless tie in the 23rd minute, when a long throw from sophomore Yousef Elhusseini (Old Bridge, NJ/Old Bridge) was headed toward the goal by sophomore Steve Petrosino (Toms River, NJ/Toms River South). Neil Kwiatkowski made the save for Philadelphia, but senior Chris Skarbelis (N. Andover, MA/Leonardtown) was there to knock in the rebound. The Cougars made it a 2-0 lead in the 59th minute. Sophomore Evan Teitelbaum (Holmdel, NJ/Holmdel) received a pass from sophomore Dylan Ross (Staten Island, NY/St. Peter's) down the right side and beat Kwiatkowski with a shot to the far post.
Freshman goalkeeper Michael Hartmann (Medford, NJ/Shawnee) made four saves to record his first collegiate shutout. Kwiatkowski finished with two saves.
The Cougars play a non-conference game on Tuesday, Oct. 9 at St. Thomas Aquinas College, beginning at 3:30 p.m. in Sparkill, N.Y.
