Wilmington Edges Cougars in Men's Soccer, 1-0

CALDWELL, N.J. – The Caldwell College men's soccer team dropped a close decision to Wilmington University, 1-0 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game Sunday afternoon at Caldwell Field. The result gives the Cougars a 6-8-1 record overall, including a 5-4 mark in the conference, while the Wildcats improve to 10-7, 6-5 CACC.

The game remained scoreless until the 77th minute. A corner kick from Kresimir Nurnberger found Tom Quaranta, who scored from 12 yards out for a 1-0 Wilmington lead. The Cougars created a few scoring chances down the stretch but were unable to net the equalizer.

Freshman goalkeeper Michael Hartmann (Medford, NJ/Shawnee) kept Caldwell in the game with some remarkable saves, finishing the game with four saves. Chad Jenkins recorded two saves for the Wildcats, who held a slim 12-11 advantage in shots.

The Cougars host Concordia College in another CACC match on Wednesday, Oct. 24. Game time is set for 3:30 p.m. at Caldwell Field.
