WILMINGTON, Del. – The Caldwell College men's soccer team picked up a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory at Goldey-Beacom College, 5-1 Saturday afternoon at Churchman-Sawin Field. Senior forward Facundo Zalazar (Buenos Aires City, Argentina/San Agustin) scored twice for the Cougars, who are 5-6-1 overall, and 4-3 in the conference. The Lightning falls to 3-10, 1-8 CACC.

The game remained scoreless until less than two minutes before halftime, when freshman midfielder Christian Castro (Clifton, NJ/Clifton) scored his first collegiate goal off an assist from sophomore midfielder Yousef Elhusseini (Old Bridge, NJ/Old Bridge). In the second half, sophomore forward Even Teitelbaum (Holmdel, NJ/Holmdel) found the net with help from senior midfielder Chris Skarbelis (N. Andover, MD/Leonardtown) in the 52nd minute. Goldey-Beacom made it a one-goal game in the 56th minute, when Andre Jank scored an unassisted goal.

Castro and Elhusseini assisted on Zalazar's first goal of the game in the 63rd minute to put Caldwell on top, 3-1. In the 76th minute, Zalazar notched his team-leading eighth goal of the season for a 4-1 lead. Junior midfielder Juan Lopez (Madison, NJ/Madison) tallied his first goal as a collegian in the 84th minute to close out the scoring. Senior midfielder D.J. Kafer (Bordentown, NJ/Bordentown) assisted on Lopez's goal.

Freshman goalkeeper Michael Hartmann (Medford, NJ/Shawnee) registered six saves in the win, while Ignacio Farias had three saves for the Lightning.

The Cougars host Felician College on Tuesday, Oct. 16 in an important CACC contest. The game starts at 3:30 p.m. at Caldwell Field.
