BRIDGEPORT, Conn. - The Caldwell College men's soccer team was eliminated from the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament with a 2-0 loss to Post University Monday afternoon at the University of Bridgeport's Knights Field. The Cougars' season comes to a close with a 7-9-2 record, while the top-seeded Eagles (10-3-4) advance to Thursday's semifinals.
Post broke a scoreless tie in the 36th minute, when Korab Mauremi finished a free kick from Gustavo Ferreira for a 1-0 lead. Junior goalkeeper Brian Agostini (N. Caldwell, NJ/West Essex) kept the Cougars within a goal with a pair of difficult saves early in the second half. But a foul called in the Caldwell penalty area gave the Eagles a penalty kick in the 61st minute, and Hylton Davis converted for a 2-0 advantage.
Agostini recorded seven saves in goal for Caldwell, while Post goalkeeper Errol Reid made four of his eight saves after the penalty kick to preserve the shutout. The loss also marked the final game for the Cougars' lone senior, midfielder Kieran Bisland (Paisley, Scotland/St. Andrew's).
