WATERBURY, Conn. - The Caldwell College women's tennis team started its 2010 season off on a positive note with a 6-3 win over Post University in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference dual Wednesday afternoon at Chase School. The Cougars, who were 1-9 a year ago, gave Sean Cotter a victory in his first dual as the Caldwell head coach.

The Cougars earned a pair of 9-7 wins at first and second doubles to sweep the doubles matches and take a 3-0 lead. Juniors Amanda Berry (Swedesboro, NJ/Kingsway Regional) and Sara Wilkins (Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) were victorious at No. 1 doubles, while junior Olga Ndhlovu (Bergenfield, NJ/Bergenfield) and sophomore Elizabeth Odell (Allenwood, NJ/Wall) won their match at No. 2 doubles. The Cougars' No. 3 doubles team of junior Kierra Tims (East Orange, NJ/East Orange) and sophomore Danielle Levasseur (Eastport, NY/Eastport South) picked up an 8-2 win to complete the sweep.

In singles play, Caldwell recorded straight-set victories at third, fourth and sixth singles to take the dual. Berry beat Sara Yakavone, 7-6 (7-5), 6-3 at No. 3 singles, Odell downed Kelsey Lengyel-Jacavich, 6-2, 6-2 at No. 4 singles, and Tims won at No. 6 singles, 6-0, 6-0 over Margearita Tajada.

Next up for Caldwell is another CACC dual against the University of the Sciences on Saturday, Sept. 11, beginning at 12:00 p.m. at the Caldwell College Tennis Courts.
