BRIDGEPORT, Conn. - The Caldwell College men's soccer team dropped its second game at the University of Bridgeport Tournament, losing to Southern Connecticut State 2-1 Saturday afternoon at Knights Field. The Cougars fall to 0-2 on the season, while the Owls remain unbeaten at 2-0.
For the second straight game the Cougars took the early lead with the game's first goal. Junior midfielder Kieran Bisland (Paisley, Scotland/St. Andrew's), pictured, finished a cross from freshman midfielder Kristopher Bistre (Staten Island, NY/St. Peter's) in the 13th minute for a 1-0 lead. The Owls tied the game with a goal by Paul Templeton in the 17th minute. Three minutes into the second half, Ross McGibney put Southern Connecticut ahead to stay with a goal for a 2-1 advantage. Both SCSU goals were assisted by Victor Hernandez.
The Owls out-shot the Cougars 21-6, forcing junior goalkeeper John Londono (West New York, NJ/Memorial) to make 10 saves in goal for Caldwell. Chris Rybacki recorded two saves for Southern in the win.
Caldwell returns to action on Wednesday, Sept. 8, when they play a non-conference match at Bloomsburg University beginning at 4:00 p.m.
