WILMINGTON, Del. - The Caldwell College men's soccer team lost to Goldey-Beacom College, 2-1 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game Saturday afternoon at Churchman Field. The loss drops the Cougars to 2-6 overall and 1-4 record in league play, while the Lightning improves to 1-7, 1-4 CACC.
Goldey-Beacom opened the scoring in the eighth minute, when Matt Bik converted a penalty kick for a 1-0 lead. Caldwell pulled even less than two minutes after halftime, when freshman forward Mosiah Whyte (Coram, NY/Newfield) scored off an assist from midfielder Sudip Ghimire (Kathmandu, Nepal) to tie the score at 1-1. The game remained tied until Ricky Jackson found the net in the 81st minute to put the Lightning ahead, 2-1. The Cougars were unable to get the equalizer before time expired, suffering their second straight CACC loss.
Junior goalkeeper John Londono (West New York, NJ/Memorial) made three saves in goal for Caldwell, while Ignacio Farias notched three saves for Goldey-Beacom.
The Cougars play a non-conference game at Queens College on Tuesday, Sept. 28, beginning at 4:00 p.m. in Flushing, N.Y.
