KAFER NETS GAME-WINNER IN OVERTIME VICTORY AT NYACK

ORANGEBURG, N.Y. - A goal by sophomore midfielder Donald Kafer (Bordentown, NJ/Bordentown) in the fourth minute of overtime gave the Caldwell College men's soccer team a 1-0 triumph over Nyack College in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game Tuesday afternoon at the Orangeburg Soccer Complex. The win is the Cougars' third in a row and improves their overall record to 5-6, including a 3-4 mark in conference play. The Warriors are now 3-8 overall, 2-5 CACC with the loss.

After 90 minutes of scoreless soccer and three minutes, 51 seconds into the first overtime period, Kafer headed home a cross from sophomore midfielder Brendan Hughes (Lyndhurst, NJ/Lyndhurst) for the game-winning goal. The goal is Kafer's first of the season and the first game-winner of his career. The Cougars took the only two shots in overtime and had 14 for the game compared to 16 for Nyack.

Junior goalkeeper John Londono (West New York, NJ/Memorial) kept the Warriors off the scoreboard with seven saves for his second straight shutout and third of the season. Adrian Ibanez recorded three saves in goal for Nyack.

The Cougars play a CACC game at Post University on Saturday, Oct. 9, beginning at 3:00 p.m. in Waterbury, Conn.
