COUGARS TOP POST IN VOLLEYBALL, 3-1

CALDWELL, N.J. - The Caldwell College volleyball team overcame a loss in the second set to beat Post University in four sets, 25-12, 20-25, 25-16, 25-10 Tuesday evening in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match in the George R. Newman Center. The win is the Cougars' fourth in a row and gives them an overall record of 17-6, including a 14-2 mark in conference play. The Eagles drop to 9-17, 7-9 CACC with the loss.

Caldwell took advantage of eight Post hitting errors and three kills apiece from senior outside hitter Cory Roesing (Secaucus, NJ/Secaucus) and sophomore right side Amber Mosher (Flanders, NJ/Mount Olive) to take the first set, 25-12. In the second set, the Cougars were plagued by six service errors and eight attack errors en route to a 25-20 defeat. Kelly Hayes had three kills in the set to lead Post.

After falling behind 6-1 at the start of the third set, Caldwell used a 10-1 run to take control of the set. The Cougars had 16 kills, including six from Roesing, and just two attack errors to win 25-16. It was more of the same in the fourth set, as Caldwell had 11 kills and one error in 18 attempts (.556). Senior outside hitter Justine Pecora (Clifton, NJ/Mt. St. Dominic Acad.) put down four kills in five attempts to lead Caldwell to a 25-10 win and their fifth victory in their past six matches.

Roesing, pictured, led all players with 11 kills, while Mosher finished with 10 kills and a .421 hitting percentage. Junior setter Lauren Roth (Findlay, OH/Findlay) had 24 assists in three sets, with junior setter Brittany Denter (Grawn, MI/Kingsley) dishing out 13 assists in the second set. Defensively, sophomore libero Maddy Amon (Louisville, KY/Bishop Moore) tallied 19 digs, and Roesing and freshman middle blocker Kasey Bausch (Bellmore, NY/Holy Trinity) each had four total blocks. Hayes ended up with nine kills to lead the Eagles.

Caldwell plays at No. 24 Dowling College on Thursday, Oct. 28 in a non-conference match. The first serve is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in Oakdale, N.Y.
