CALDWELL, N.J. - The Caldwell College men's soccer team dropped a close non-conference game with C.W. Post University, 3-2 Thursday afternoon at Caldwell Field. With the loss, the Cougars fall to 1-5 on the season, while the Pioneers end a three-game winless streak and improve to 3-4-1.

Caldwell got on the scoreboard first in the 19th minute, when freshman forward Facundo Zalazar (Buenos Aires City, Argentina/San Agustin) knocked in a pass from senior midfielder Justin Miller (Monroe, NJ/Monroe) for a 1-0 Caldwell lead. The score remained 1-0 until Niclas Dahlin collected a crossing pass from Betim Bajrami and scored for C.W. Post to tie the game in the 64th minute. A little over three minutes later, a long throw-in from James Stevenson found Phillip Svensson at the top of the penalty area. His shot from 18 yards beat Caldwell goalkeeper John Londono (West New York, NJ/Memorial) for a 2-1 Pioneers' lead.

Just 32 seconds later, Zalazar (pictured) got on the end of a free kick from junior forward Rob Arena (Sparta, NJ/Sparta) and tallied his second goal of the game and fourth of the season to knot the score at 2-2. But Dahlin struck again in the 80th minute with a blast from 25 yards out into the upper left corner of the goal to put C.W. Post ahead for good.

Londono finished with three saves, all in the second half, for Caldwell. Shane Flanagan made four saves in goal for the Pioneers, who held a 14-11 edge in shots.

The Cougars resume Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play on Wednesday, Sept. 30 with a game at Felician College. The match is set to start at 7:00 p.m. at Tryon Field in Rutherford, N.J.
