CALDWELL MEN'S SOCCER FALLS TO POST IN CACC SEMIFINALS

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Caldwell College men's soccer team lost to Post University, 2-0 in the semifinals of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament Thursday afternoon at Plymouth Whitemarsh High School. The result ends the season for the top-seeded Cougars, who finish with an overall record of 11-7-1 after winning the CACC regular-season title with an 8-1-1 record. The fourth-seeded Eagles advance to Saturday's finals against Holy Family University, who defeated Dominican College 3-1 in the other semifinal.

Post took a 1-0 lead in the 17th minute, when Francis Eno capitalized on a Caldwell turnover and blasted a shot that beat Caldwell senior goalkeeper John Plaugic (Kearny, NJ/Kearny) to his right. The Cougars responded with some excellent scoring chances. In the 20th minute, junior midfielder Justin Miller (Monroe, NJ/Monroe) broke in from the right and hit a shot that was just tipped wide by Post goalkeeper Dan Nadel. Three minutes later, junior defender Justin Everett (Stewartstown, PA/Kennard Dale) dribbled to the top of the penalty area and hammered a shot that Nadel kept out of the goal with a diving save to his right. With Caldwell pressing for the equalizer in the second half, Post's Eurica Trowers scored on a counter-attack to put Post ahead to stay, 2-0.

Nadel finished with three saves for the shutout, while Plaugic recorded one save in his final game as a Cougar. Other seniors completing their collegiate careers include forward and CACC Player of the Year Chad Bennett (Kingston, Jamaica/Campion), forward Luis Sartorio (Asuncion, Paraguay/St. Benedict's Prep), defenders Kagiso Rhenoster (Mafikeng, South Africa/Mmbatho), Kevoi Walters (Clarendon, Jamaica/Clarendon) and Kyle Plaugic (Kearny, NJ/Kearny) and midfielder James Broderick (West Keansburg, NJ/Raritan). The class won 45 games in four seasons and advanced to the CACC semifinals each year. The CACC regular-season title was the program's first since 1993.
