CALDWELL, N.J. - The Caldwell College men's soccer team lost to LeMoyne College, 3-0 in a non-conference game Tuesday afternoon at Caldwell Field. With the loss, the Cougars fall to 8-4-3 on the season, while the Dolphins, ranked 24th in the latest NSCAA/adidas Division II Poll, are now 12-2-2.
A pair of first-half goals by Angelo Reina kept momentum on the side of LeMoyne early. In the 12th minute, a long throw-in from Brice Rudat bounced through the Cougars' penalty area to Reina, who scored at the far post for a 1-0 lead. Almost 16 minutes later, Reina again collected a loose ball at the far post and scored his second of the game. Mark Lukowiecki tallied a goal in the 52nd minute off an assist from Steve Blackwell to complete the scoring.
LeMoyne was efficient with its offensive chances, scoring three goals on six total shots. The Cougars held an 8-6 advantage in shots and had six corner kicks to one for the Dolphins, but were unable to break through. Steve White made two saves for LeMoyne, while junior goalkeeper John Plaugic (Kearny, NJ/Kearny) recorded one save.
The Cougars are back in action on Thursday, Oct. 18, when they face No. 7 Dowling College in a non-conference match. Game time is set for 3:00 p.m. in Oakdale, N.Y.
