DAUTI'S TWO GOALS LIFT MEN'S SOCCER PAST CONCORDIA

CALDWELL, N.J. - Senior forward Uke Dauti (West Orange, NJ/West Orange) scored twice for the second straight game as the Caldwell College men's soccer team beat Concordia College, 4-0 in a non-conference match Monday afternoon at Caldwell Field. The victory is Caldwell's fourth in five games and improves their overall record to 6-4, while the Clippers drop to 0-7.

The Cougars got on the scoreboard in the ninth minute. Concordia goalkeeper Ivan Rodriguez fouled a Caldwell player in the penalty area while defending a cross, giving the Cougars a penalty kick. Dauti's attempt from the penalty spot was saved by Rodriguez, but he put away the rebound to give Caldwell a 1-0 lead. The score remained the same into the second half. In the 65th minute, senior midfielder Jorge Ibarcena (Lima, Peru) sent a ball towards the goal that Dauti tipped past Rodriguez for his team-leading eighth goal.

Senior forward J.P. Herring (Barnegat, NJ/Southern Regional) put Caldwell ahead 3-0 in the 71st minute when Ibarcena's corner kick was headed down by senior forward Bard Skjelstad (Bodo, Norway) to Herring, who found the net for the second time this season. Sophomore forward Chad Bennett (Kingston, Jamaica/Campion) completed the scoring in the 77th minute, taking a pass from freshman midfielder Justin Miller (Monroe, NJ/Monroe) and beating Rodriguez with a shot from 15 yards.

Sophomore goalkeeper Kareem Grant (Elmont, NY/Bryant & Stratton) made three saves for his second consecutive shutout. Rodriguez, whose team was out-shot by the Cougars 26-9, recorded six saves.

Caldwell returns to conference play on Wednesday, Sept. 27, when the Cougars play at Holy Family University in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match. Game time is set for 4:00 p.m. in Philadelphia, Pa.
