RUTHERFORD, N.J. - Junior forward Uke Dauti (West Orange, NJ/West Orange) tallied a pair of second-half goals to lead the Caldwell College men's soccer team to a come-from-behind victory over Felician College, 2-1 Tuesday night in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match at Tryon Field. With the win, the Cougars remained unbeaten in the CACC at 3-0 and improved to 4-1-1 overall, while the Golden Falcons fell to 0-5-2.
Felician struck first in the 31st minute, when Tae Woong Rho collected a loose ball near midfield, beat a pair a defenders and put a shot in the upper left corner of the goal for a 1-0 lead. The Cougars regrouped at halftime and pressed for the equalizer. In the 60th minute, junior forward Bard Skjelstad (Bodo, Norway) sent a pass to Dauti, who dribbled around his defender and put the ball in the lower right corner to tie the game at 1-1.
Then in the 70th minute off a Cougar corner kick, senior midfielder Chris Parshelunis (Brick, NJ/St. Rose) headed a loose ball over to sophomore defender Andrew Fraser (Kingston, Jamaica/Wolmer's), who dribbled past his defender but was taken down hard by goalkeeper Anthony Quarino in the penalty area . The Cougars were awarded a penalty kick, which Dauti converted to give Caldwell a 2-1 advantage.
Senior goalkeeper Mike Turdo (West Paterson, NJ/Passaic Valley) was outstanding in goal, making seven saves to preserve the victory. Quarino stopped two shots for Felician.
The Cougars host Wilmington College in a CACC match on Saturday, Sept. 24, as part of a double-header with the Cougars' women's soccer team. The women's game starts at noon, with the men to follow at 2:00 p.m.
