COUGARS WRAP UP CACC SCHEDULE WITH 2-0 WIN AT POST

WATERBURY, Conn. - Junior forward Uke Dauti (West Orange, NJ/West Orange) scored both goals as the Caldwell College men's soccer team closed out its Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference schedule with a 2-0 win over Post University Monday afternoon at Lemoy Field. The Cougars (10-4-1) finish with a conference mark of 7-1 to clinch a first-round bye in next week's CACC Tournament, while the Eagles fall to 7-8 overall and 2-5 in the CACC.

Dauti put the Cougars on top in the 15th minute, when he stripped a defender and put a shot into the lower right corner of the goal for what proved to be the game-winning goal. The Cougars held onto the one-goal lead, thanks to a pair of point-blank saves by freshman goalkeeper John Plaugic (Kearny, NJ/Kearny), including one on a breakaway just before halftime. With the clock winding down late in the second half and the ball deep in Post territory, Dauti was taken down in the penalty area. Dauti converted the ensuing penalty kick with just second remaining in the game for the final score. He now leads the Cougars with 12 goals on the season, including four game-winners.

Plaugic made three saves to earn his first collegiate shutout in his second start. Dan Nadel recorded five saves for Post, who were out-shot by the Cougars 15-11.

The Cougars continue their preparation for the CACC Tournament semifinals, which will be held on Thursday, Nov. 3 at Tryon Field in Rutherford, N.J., with a game at the University of Bridgeport on Wednesday, Oct. 26. Game time is set for 3:00 p.m.
