DAUTI'S HAT TRICK LEADS MEN'S SOCCER OVER BLOOMFIELD

CALDWELL, N.J. - Junior forward Uke Dauti (West Orange, NJ/West Orange), left, scored three times and junior forward Bard Skjelstad (Bodo, Norway) tallied a goal and three assists as the Caldwell College men's soccer team blanked Bloomfield College, 8-0 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game Thursday afternoon at Caldwell Field. The victory clinched the No. 2 seed and a first-round bye in next month's CACC Tournament for the Cougars, who improved to 6-1 in the conference and 8-4-1 overall. The Deacons fell to 0-11-1 on the season and 0-8 in the CACC.

Dauti opened the scoring in the 12th minute, when he finished a pass from sophomore defender Jan Marco Jiras (Lima, Peru) to put the Cougars up 1-0. After junior midfielder J.P. Herring (Barnegat, NJ/Southern Regional) headed in his second goal of the season off of a corner kick in the 32nd minute, Dauti found the net again just two minutes later off of a pass from Skjelstad. Jiras, right, notched his second goal of the year in the 37th minute to give the Cougars a 4-0 lead at halftime.

Dauti completed the hat trick, his first as a collegian, in the 60th minute. He now has 10 goals to lead Caldwell. Freshman Luis Sartorio (Asuncion, Paraguay/St. Benedict's Prep) picked up his first career goal when Skjelstad's pass sent him in alone on the Bloomfield goalkeeper in the 62nd minute. Skjelstad then scored his sixth of the year in the 64th minute. Freshman midfielder Kevoi Walters (Clarendon, Jamaica/Clarendon) ended the scoring with a goal in the 78th minute. Senior midfielders Chris Parshelunis (Brick, NJ/St. Rose) and Saah Hali (Teaneck, NJ/Teaneck) each had a pair of assists in the win.

Senior goalkeeper Mike Turdo (West Paterson, NJ/Passaic Valley) and freshman netminder John Plaugic (Kearny, NJ/Kearny) shared the shutout, with Turdo making a save in his 45 minutes of work. Dennis Amoateng recorded four saves for Bloomfield.

Next up for the Cougars is a non-conference match at Kutztown University on Saturday, Oct. 22. Kick-off is set for 11:00 a.m.
