CALDWELL, ADELPHI TIE DUE TO DARKNESS

The Caldwell College and Adelphi University women's tennis teams decided to call their match a draw with two matches to complete due to darkness. The Cougars won two doubles matches and one singles match, and were leading in another singles match when the dual was halted.

 

Caldwell's No. 2 doubles team of Joellen Keaney (Oak Bluffs, MA/Marthas Vineyard Regional) and Erin O'Neill (River Edge, NJ/Barnstable Academy) blanked their opponents 8-0, while Kristi Godfrey (West Babylon, NY/West Babylon) and Danielle O'Connell (South Amboy, NJ/St. John Vianney) won their match at No. 3 doubles 8-2.

 

In singles, Godfrey won at No. 5 singles for Caldwell, but Adelphi recorded wins at second, third and fourth singles to lead 4-3. O'Connell was leading Adelphi's Geisha Rodriguez 7-2 and Caldwell's Oksana Manoukian (Old Tappan, NJ/Rutgers) was tied with Claudia Nunez 7-7 at No. 1 singles when the match was called.

 

The Cougars host Holy Family on Monday, Sept. 20 at 4:00 p.m. at the Caldwell Tennis Courts.

2. Keaney/O'Neill (CC) def. Canale/Pashayan, 8-0

3. Godfrey/O'Connell (CC) def. Mary Hopkins/Rodriguez, 8-2
