MEN'S SOCCER UPENDS MILLERSVILLE 3-0

CALDWELL, N.J. - Sophomore Jorge Ibarcena (Lima, Peru) and freshman Nicholas Harriott (St. Catherine, Jamaica/Champion) each tallied a goal and an assist as Caldwell College defeated Millersville 3-0 Tuesday afternoon at Caldwell Field. The victory gave the Cougars a 2-1 record for the season, while Millersville, who is ranked fourth in the Northeast Region, drops to 2-2-3.

After a scoreless first half, freshman defender Jan Marco Jiras (Lima, Peru) got the Cougars on the scoreboard midway through the second half. Jiras deflected a cross from junior Kevin Libbos (Ontario, Canada/Glengarry) into the goal, beating Millersville goalkeeper Ryan Schlegel to his left.

In the 85th minute, Ibarcena took a pass from Harriott from the left flank and scored from 25 yards out. Then less than a minute later, Ibarcena returned the favor by finding Harriott on the left side behind his defender. Harriott's shot found the upper right corner of the goal for his first collegiate tally.

Junior goalkeeper Mike Turdo (West Paterson, NJ/Passaic Valley) made two saves for his second shutout of the season. Schlegel had four saves for Millersville, which was outshot 15-8 by the Cougars.

The men's soccer team returns to action this Saturday when they travel to Philadelphia, Pa., to face Holy Family University in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match. Game time is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
