Damel Ling enters his second season on the sidelines for the the Caldwell University women’s basketball staff as an assistant coach for 2020-21.
Ling comes to Caldwell from The Patrick School where he was the head girls basketball coach from 2016-19. He guided the team to the Union County Tournament final all three seasons and won the county championship in 2017 and 2019. Ling led the team to 63 wins in his three seasons and finished with a single season record 27 wins in the 2016-17 season.
Prior to taking over as the head girls coach, Ling was the associate head boys coach at the Patrick School and helped them win back to back county titles in 2013 and 2014. He also served as the assistant varsity and head JV boys coach at St. Anthony’s. Ling also worked for one season as the head men’s basketball coach at Union County College in 2015-16.
Ling earned his bachelor’s degree in political science from Wheaton College in 1999. While at Wheaton, he played for four years on the men’s basketball team and was selected to the New England All-Rookie team in 1996.
