Marvin Hawkins enters his first season at Caldwell University as an assistant coach for the men's and women's track and field program in 2022.
He is a USATF Level 1 certified coach. As a high school runner he ran cross country, winter and spring track for Essex Catholic High School under the legendary Coach Jack O'Leary. He graduated from Seton Hall University majoring in elementary education. As a high school coach at Irvington High School(Irvington, NJ) he had 407 dual meet wins, 25 team championships(14 state championships), 22 All Americans, 305 individual championship titles(conference, county, state, national level) two Olympians.
In 2005, Coach Hawkins was named Outdoor Boy's Track Coach of the Year by the Star Ledger and named All Area Coach of the Year by Worrall Community Newspapers 13 times plus Essex County Coach of the Year 6 times. In 2018, Hawkins was inducted into the NJSIAA/NJSCA Coaches Hall of Fame and the Irvington High School Hall of Fame.
