David Vargo

David Vargo begins his second year as an assistant coach for the Cougar baseball team. Vargo joined the Caldwell coaching staff after three seasons as an assistant coach at Ocean County College, where he was in charge of the infielders and hitters. During Vargo’s time at OCC, the Vikings were ranked in the top 12 nationally in team batting average and fielding percentage. He also has served as a baseball instructor for eight years, working at Frozen Ropes in Lakewood, N.J., and Extra Innings in Jackson, N.J.

A 2009 graduate of Centenary College, Vargo won Rawlings Gold Glove awards as a junior and senior, helping Centenary win the Skyline Conference and advance to the NCAA Division III regional as a junior. He also spent two seasons at OCC and was named an all-region and all-conference shortstop as a sophomore.

Vargo earned a degree in business and sports management at Centenary. A native of Bricktown, N.J., he currently resides in Brick, N.J.
