Meredith Gatz (Millis, Mass.) co-led with five kills each as Caldwell University volleyball dropped a 25-16, 25-17, 25-12 non-league verdict at Molloy University at Bob Houlihan Gymnasium on Tuesday night.
In the second set, Caldwell (2-3) jumped out to a 6-2 lead, with Gatz, King and freshman RS
Sarah Ojo (Richmond, Texas) slamming kills to put the Cougars ahead. The set was tied at 8 when the Lions (2-4) scored six straight for a 14-8 lead.
But CU battled back, with sophomore setter
Brooke Cvitkovic (Toronto) seeing her first action in a Cougars uniform flipping up two assists and Ojo and classmate
Jasmine Johnson (Rahway, N.J.) registering a block, pulling the Cougars to within 14-12. A late flurry would give Molloy the set win, and the hosts would go on to take the third set and the match.
Junior
Stephanie Ramos (Jackson, N.J.) led the back line with eight digs. Cvitkovic and junior
Grace Moliterno (Chester, N.Y.) hd five assists each for Caldwell.
The Cougars next travel to Kutztown, Pa., to take on their CACC rival Chestnut Hill in a non-league contest and host Kutztown on Sunday.
