CALDWELL, N.J. -- Sophomore hitter
Marley Rudolph (Hampstead, Md.) had a team-best 18 kills, leading Caldwell University volleyball to a five-set triumph over Georgian Court in a CACC matchup at the George R. Newman Center on Saturday afternoon.
After the teams split the first two sets, the third was a classic, with the Lions (3-12, 0-3 CACC) erasing a 23-17 deficit to tie it at 24. Both teams traded opportunities to finish the set, before the Cougars finally took it, winning three straight points, two on kills by Rudolph and senior hitter
Andrea Enabosi (Piscataway, N.J.), 31-29.
GCU won the fourth set to send it to the fifth, where the Cougars took the early lead on the service arm of sophomore setter
Brooke Cvitkovic (Toronto), inserted into the rotation for the first time in the match late in the fourth set. Caldwell (3-10, 1-3) reeled off the first six points of the 15-point fifth set, extending their advantage to 11-3on two kills by sophomore RS
Meredith Gatz (Millis, Mass.) and Rudolph.
At 13-6 Enabosi's solid kill just on the baseline put the Cougars on the precipice of the win before her hit through the block, both on sets by Cvitkovic, completed the Cougars' first CACC victory since Nov. 13, 2024.
Enabosi finished with 12 kills, four digs and three blocks. Caldwell was formidable at the net, Enabosi's block total paired with career-highs of nine by freshman
Sarah Ojo (Richmond, Texas) and seven by Gatz helping the Cougars to a 13-4 edge in the category.
Other major contributors to the win include Gatz, with 10 kills, seven blocks and four digs, junior setter
Grace Moliterno (Chester, N.Y.) with 24 assists, freshman S/RS
Jasmine Johnson (Rahway, N.J.) with 17 assists and six kills, and the backline duo of sophomore
