George Matches Career High with Six Goals, Korzevinski, Ciresi Net Three Each, Women's Lacrosse Tops STAC

Addison Plants Three assists, Camporeale Gobbles 11 Ground Balls

SPARKILL, N.Y. -- Sophomore midfielder Jessica George (So. Brunswick, N.J.) matched her career-high with six goals and freshman midfielder Gianna Camporeale (Forked River, N.J.) grabbed a career-best 11 ground balls as Caldwell University scored a 17-6 non-league women's lacrosse victory over STAC at Spartan Field.

The Cougars scored the first four goals, two by George, in the first 10 minutes of the game. After the Spartans (2-10) halved their deficit early in the second, Caldwell put four more on the board, by junior midfielder Tiana Cipot (No. Brunswick, N.J.), George, freshman attack Summer Ciresi (Pequannock, N.H.) and senior midfielder Meghan Korzevinski (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) before settling for an 8-4 halftime lead.

After the intermission, six straight Cougar markers, three by George and two by Ciresi, including a nifty behind the back flip by the freshman, increased CU's advantage to 14-5 by the end of the third and they coasted from there.

Korzevinski had three goals and an assist while nabbing nine ground balls, Ciresi finished with three goals, Cipot and freshman midfielder Zoe Rocha (Houston) had two goals and an assist each, and freshman defender Abigail Wallace (Millis, Mass.) scored her second career goal on a free position in the game's final minute.

Graduate defender Isabella Vitella (Roseland, N.J.) led CU with six draw controls.

Senior Sarahkate Schneider (Somerset, N.J.) recorded three saves playing the first three quarters and classmate Serena Barra (Cranford, N.J.) made two stops in the final quarter.

Caldwell (4-8) next visits Dominican on Thursday in Orangeburg, N.Y.
