WINTER HAVEN, Fla. — Sophomore 3B Lindsay Oller (So. Plainfield, N.J.) drove in runs in both games and junior righthander Katie O'Connor (Charlottesville, Va.) pitched six innings of relief in the opener as Caldwell dropped a softball doubleheader at Rollins College (14-5) on Monday evening, 8-1 and 8-4.
After Rollins jumped out to an early lead in game one, O'Connor threw five scoreless frames of relief before the hosts added three runs in the sixth. Oller's single lifted down the right field line just scored junior CF Kenzie Nazionale (Ontario, Calif.) from second with the Cougars' only run.
In the nightcap, CU scored first, with Oller singling in pinch runner soph Lexi Weiss (Norristown, Pa.), who entered after Nazionale walked and stole second but was injured on the steal attempt and removed for caution.
Freshman 1B Emerson Jarrard (Carlsbad, Calif.) reached twice in game one on a hit and walk, and drove in a run with a seventh-inning single in game two.
Sophomore DP Emily Kurth (Toms River, N.J.) and freshman RF Kendall Mazur (Millville, N.J.) drove in runs with sixth-inning hits in game two.
The Cougars (1-7) visit Saint Leo for a Wednesday doubleheader beginning at 5 p.m.
