CALDWELL, N.J. -- Freshman forward
Terence Thompson (Rochester, N.Y.) recorded his sixth double-double of the season with 14 points and 15 rebounds, and senior forward
DeAngelo Horn (Detroit) concluded his collegiate career with a team-best 18 points and nine boards, but Caldwell saw its men's basketball season end in an 88-77 defeat to top-seeded Felician in the CACC Basketball Championship semifinals at the Newman Center on Saturday afternoon.
The Cougars and Golden Falcons traded the lead in the first half, with Caldwell (15-15) taking a five-point advantage at 31-26 on a Hrn layup with 5:24 left. But the Golden Falcons (26-3) surged to take a 40-37 edge at halftime.
Felician scored the first six points after intermission, taking its largest lead to that point at 46-37 two minutes in. The fourth-seeded Cougars would later close to within 55-52 on a three pointer by freshman forward
Markeis Isley (Jersey City, N.J.) and transition layup by Horn following a nifty steal by sophomore guard
Tristan Rogers (Brooklyn, N.Y.).
Later, leading 61-55 midway through the second, the Golden Falcons used an 8-2 run to extend to a 12-point lead and the Cougars would get no closer than eight the rest of the way.
Junior guard
Todd Rochelle (Laurelton, N.Y.) had 17 points, six assists and four steals for the Cougars, while senior
Melvin Evans (Bronx, N.Y.) concluded his stellar Caldwell career with 11 points and two helpers.
