NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Senior guard
Melvin Evans (Bronx, N.Y.) has been named Central Atlantic Athletic Conference (CACC) Men's Basketball Co-Player of the Week for the week ending Feb. 15, the league announced today. It's the second such honor for Evans, who also won the award on December 21. He has been named to the Weekly Honor Roll four times as well.
Evans notched 21 points, seven assists and four rebounds in a win over Bridgeport on Tuesday, in the process becoming the 24th Cougar to eclipse the 1000 point scoring mark
He followed up with team-bests of 18 points and eight rebounds, adding five assists in a win at Chestnut Hill on Saturday.
Evans now ranks sixth in the CACC in scoring (16.8), fourth in assists (4.5) and fourth in steals (2.0).
His 1036 points now place him 23rd all-time at CU, 10 behind Michael Pero '03 and 17 back of Caldwell Athletics Hall of Famer Shawn McCray '89.
He and the Cougars take on Post on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at Newman Center.
