Caldwell University Notes Passing of Athletics Hall of Famer Carole Dwyer Collins '57

Women's Basketball Trailblazer Was 2014 HOF Inductee

CALDWELL, N.J. -- Caldwell Athletics is saddened to learn of the passing of Caldwell Athletics Hall of Famer Carole Dwyer Collins '57, at 90.

Inducted in 2014, Carole was a true trailblazer in women's basketball. She starred for Mount St. Dominic Academy prior to her days at Caldwell (then College). She and her sisters June and Ginny helped the Mount win four state championships while posting an incredible 80-game winning streak.

The success continued at Caldwell, where Carole became the team's leading scorer and eventual captain as a senior. That year she led Caldwell to an unbeaten season.

Born on November 11, 1935, in Caldwell, Carole was the beloved daughter of the late Michael and Veronica (McGrath) Dwyer. She married her soulmate, George Collins, on December 28, 1957, in a ceremony at Saint Aloysius Church in Caldwell.

Caldwell University, the Athletic Department and Women's Basketball program extend condolences to her family.
