CALDWELL, N.J. -- For
Yves Jean, success on and off the sprint football field has come through hard work as well as natural talent. His expanded role on the Cougars defense led to his first career sack and pickoff as a sophomore, and the defensive back has his sights set even higher for 2025 -- personally and as a team.
Earning status as one of three captains on the defense is a big step in that direction for the Criminal Justice major, who is also a CSFL All-Academic performer who earned a 3.56 GPA last year.
The Clifton native took a few minutes to talk about preparations for his third season, getting underway Friday at Pennsylvania.

On the field, we have high ambitions for this season. The ultimate goal for our team is to reach the championship game with an unblemished record and bring CU its first CSFL title. Off the field, we pride ourselves in being great men and strong pillars in the Caldwell community. We look to maintain a team GPA of 3.0 or better while supporting other sports teams on campus.
What is a team motto or a core value that will drive your team this season?
We have some core values that we live by each day. These values include attitude, toughness, discipline, and pride.
What is the one thing you want fans to know about your team?
One thing I want our fans to know about us is that we are an electric group of individuals. There are playmakers everywhere.
Who is a player on your team that we should be watching out for this season, and why?
Sophomore running back
Kyano Jimenez is someone you should be keeping your eye on this season. He is a workhorse, fearless running back with explosive speed and elite fast-twitch quickness that can make defenders look silly.
What is one personal goal you're striving for this season?
A goal I have is to win the 2025 CSFL championship. Â Â Â
What are you most looking forward to in your first season as a team captain?
I am looking forward to being an outlet for my teammates in tough situations, building bonds with these men, and creating memories that will last both on and off the field.
After you graduate, what are you hoping to do next?
I have several goals and aspirations. I am confident that I can succeed in whatever field I choose. My ultimate goal is to be my own boss. I always remind myself to believe in who I am and what I can accomplish.
