KINGS PARK, N.Y. -- Freshman
Lizbeth Castillo (West New York, N.J.) and junior
Dayanara Grau (Union City, N.J.) were the top two Caldwell finishers as the Cougars women's cross country team improved with a fifth-place finish at the St. Joseph's University (L.I.) Golden Eagle Invitational in Sunken Meadow State Park on Saturday morning.
Castillo finished in 6th at 20:43.10 and Grau came in second for Caldwell in 13th at 21:54.00.
Other Cougar finishers were freshman
Ashley Mercado (Franklin Square, N.Y.) at 30th in 24:11.50; sophomore
Ria Datta (Edison, N.J.) at 56th in 28:25.10 and freshman
Heather Obote (Pikesville, Md.) in 63rd at 30:52.70.
Pratt Institute's Coralie Norenberg won the race in 19:04.78.
Caldwell next visits the Osprey Open at Stockton University on Saturday.
