CALDWELL, N.J. -- A two-time CSFL All-Academic performer and now four-year starter on the offensive line,
Joseph Alberti knows all about hard work. Besides playing both sprint football and lacrosse for the Cougars the past three seasons, the Special Education major is the consummate leader by example.
All of which makes the nearby Nutley native's selection as one of the Cougars' five team captains not at all surprising. He took some time to share some thoughts on the season and his team and personal goals in the latest Cougar Captain's Corner.
What is your main goal for your team this season, both on and off the field?
My main goal this season is to help our team reach our full potential by giving 100% effort every day. Beyond just winning games, I want to be a strong leader and a role model for my teammates. Success to me means building a culture of hard work, respect, and dedication that will last long after the season ends
What is a team motto or a core value that will drive your team this season?
Our team's core values are attitude, toughness, discipline, and pride. These principles are what will drive us this season.
What is the one thing you want fans to know about your team?
I want the fans to know that we are going to give it our all on every play and we're not going to give up no matter what.
What is one personal goal you're striving for this season?
I want to win as much as possible so we can compete for a championship.
What are you most looking forward to in your first season as a team captain?
In my first season as a captain, I am most looking forward to leading by example. I am going to help my teammates play with extreme passion, minimize mistakes, and do everything we can to win as many games as possible while fostering a strong bond with each other.
After you graduate, what are you hoping to do next?
After graduation, I plan to become a special education teacher. My goal is to help students succeed by providing them with the support and encouragement they need to thrive both in and out of the classroom.
Is there anything else you'd like to share about your team or this season that we haven't asked about?
I am super proud of our team's effort and the chemistry we have built already. Everyone has been working really hard and keeping a positive attitude. It makes mw grateful to be part of this group. My hope is that we all stay healthy and safe throughout the season, and ultimately, I want to help lead our team to the CSFL championship.
