VALHALLA, N.Y. — The Caldwell baseball squad concluded its 2025 campaign with a doubleheader loss to Dominican, 20-3 and 13-2, at Westchester Community College on Friday afternoon. The Cougars (21-28) finished with the program's most victories since 2008, when they went 34-19.
Junior shortstop Christian Rinick (Marlon, N.J.) had three hits in the two games to pace the Cougars' attack.
In the opener, the Cougars scored twice in the eighth inning on a grounder by Rinick and RBI single by senior RF Liam Lombardi (Stony Point, N.Y.). Freshman left hander Jared Jacobus (Flemington, N.J.) kept the Cougars in game by starting the contest with four solid innings.
In the nightcap, Caldwell scored twice in the fifth on Rinick's two-run double high off the wall in right center field.
The game marked the final appearance in the careers of Lombardi, senior righthander Brandon Scalisi (New City, N.Y.), who pitched the first 5 ? innings, third baseman Sean Brown (West Orange, N.Y.) and second baseman Joseph Witt (North Arlington, N.J.).
