CALDWELL, N.J. -- Junior midfielder
Meghan Korzevinski (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) and sophomore midfielder
Tiana Cipot (No. Brunswick, N.J.) scored two goals each but Caldwell women's lacrosse fell, 15-6, to Bridgeport in the season finale at Kiwanis Oval on a sun-splashed Wednesday afternoon.
The Cougars, needing a victory to earn a berth in the CACC Tournament, jumped out to a 3-1 lead in the first five minutes of the game on goals by Cipot and Korzevinski, sandwiched around a marker by graduate midfielder
Janea Kelty (West Milford, N.J.). Korzevinski assisted on the two markers.
But the Purple Knights (7-9, 4-5 CACC) scored the next five goals to close out the period with a 6-3 edge, then tallied three more in the second for a 9-3 halftime advantage.
A Korzevinski marker on a feed from Cipot narrowed the Cougars' deficit to 9-4, but UB would net the next four to put the game away and secure the #6 seed in the CACC Tournament. Korzevinski had three assists to go with her two goals and Cipot added two helpers.
Senior defender
Brady Kells (Parsippany, N.J.) capped her Cougars career with a goal in the waning seconds for the final margin. Kells finished the game with a team-best four caused turnovers and grabbed three ground balls. Kelty's four grounders and seven draw controls led CU (2-12, 2-7).
