Lucy Coogan (Kilkenny, Ireland) and sophomore guard
Jah'Nel Lewis (Jersey City, N.J.) have been named to the
Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association Division II Women's Basketball First Team, and sophomore guard
Brooke Corbett (Staten Island, N.Y.) earned Honorable Mention. The honors follow outstanding seasons that saw the trio earn numerous awards and lead the Cougars to 17 wins, the most for the program since the 2017-18 campaign.
Lewis, also a D2 East Hoops All-Region, CSC Academic All-District, CACC All-Academic, First Team All-CACC and Second Team All-Region pick, averaged a league-leading 18.2 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 2.8 rpg (8th CACC) and 1.8 steals per game (4th).
Coogan, a All-CACC First Team selection, was fourth in the league in scoring (16.7 ppg), fifth in rebounding (7.3), 11th in blocks (0.8) and sixth in minutes played (34.8). She was named to the CACC weekly honor roll six times, including two straight weeks in February, and her 1145 career points are 16th all time at CU and ninth in the DII era.
Corbett, the CACC Defensive Player of the Year, led the league and ranked 18th in the NCAA in steals with 2.86 per contest. Regularly guarding the team's best offensive player, Corbett also contributed 6.2 rpg, second on the team and 21st in the league, and 14 blocks. She was also selected CACC Student-Athlete of the Month for February 2025.
The three will receive their awards at the 92nd MBWA All-Met Haggerty Awards dinner, scheduled for Thursday evening, April 24, at the Sleepy Hollow Hotel & Conference Center in Tarrytown, N.Y.
