UNIONDALE, NY -- Junior DH Stephen Young Jr. (Middlesex, N.J.) and senior first baseman Liam James (Roseland, N.J.) led Caldwell baseball with two RBI apiece, but Caldwell baseball's rally fell short against #22 ranked Molloy (6-2) at Mitchel Field.

Both offenses exploded in the late innings. Molloy plated 7 runs in the bottom of the sixth and Caldwell (2-1) scored four in the 7th and 8th innings combined.

James blasted a 2-run home run to cut the deficit to 8-6 in the top of the 7th.

Young Jr. hit an RBI single in the 8th which got the Cougars to within 1 but Molloy would tack on a run on a balk to give themselves a two run cushion.

Junior SS Christian Rinick (Marlton, N.J.), Young Jr., senior RF Liam Lombardi (Stony Point, N.Y.), senior second baseman Sean Brown (West Orange, N.J.), junior LF Jimmy Kurtz (Buena, N.J.) and redshirt sophomore CF Christian Petino Jr. (Flemington, N.J.) all had two hits.

Next up for CU is a matchup with Queens College in the Home Opener at the Oval on Thursday at 1:30 PM.
