NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Sophomore women's basketball standout
Brooke Corbett (Staten Island, N.Y.) has been selected as the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Student-Athlete of the Month for February 2025, the league announced today. Corbett earned the prestigious award for demonstrating success on the basketball court during the month, while also being a standout in the classroom and giving back to her community.
Corbett, a 5'7 guard, has a 3.9 GPA in Education/Mathematics and was recently named CACC Women's Basketball Defensive Player of the Year, helping the Cougars to a 17-13 record, their most wins in eight years.
Corbett averaged 2.9 steals per game, best in the CACC and top 20 nationally. She was regularly counted on to guard the opponent's top offensive player, regardless of position, garnering 6.0 rebounds, second on the team and 21st in the league, and 12 blocked shots. She collected a career-high 14 rebounds vs. Jefferson on February 8, adding six steals.
Off the court, she earned Fall 2024 Academic Honor Roll/President's Level for a 3.93 GPA, and has numerous community service activities to her credit including as a volunteer at a Breast Cancer Walk, Michael's Cause Run, Autism Speaks Walk, Fun at Lunch at Lincoln Elementary School, Rise against Hunger and the Caldwell Street Fair.
The CACC Student-Athlete of the Month Award is handed out from September to May each academic year. It recognizes one student-athlete from any sport active during that month.
