NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Senior guard
Melvin Evans (Bronx, N.Y.) has been named CACC Men's Basketball Player of the Week, the league announced today. Evans led the Cougars to a 3-0 week.
Evans, who ranks fifth in the CACC in scoring (17.2 ppg), had a game-high 22 points (on 8-of-9 shooting), adding six steals, six rebounds, two assists in win over WilmU on Friday. He followed up by co-leading CU with 16 points (5-of-5 shooting) and five assists in win over No. 21 Assumption on Sunday.
He also had 13 points, and five assists in a win over So. Conn on Monday.
Evans is now third in NCAA era in CU history in steals (158) and 17th in NCAA era in career points (840).
The Cougars, winners of four straight, next visit Holy Family on January 3.
