WATERBURY, Conn. — Senior hitter Wyette Schubert-Brown connected for a team-best 10 kills and senior setter Jordan Mack (Yorba Linda, Calif.) continued her strong run of matches with 23 assists as Caldwell volleyball gave CACC North leader Post all it could handle in a four-set defeat on Wednesday at Drubner Center.
The Cougars got off to fast start, scoring the last seven points of the first set to win, 25-22. Junior hitter Andrea Enabosi (Piscataway, N.J.) had two of her nine kills in the run, Schubert-Brown had one and senior middle blocker Alexa McEwan (Beachwood, N.J.) had another to secure the set.
After the Eagles (19-3, 9-0 CACC) took the second and third sets, Caldwell fought hard in the fourth, getting to within 17-14 on a kill by Enabosi before the hosts pulled out the set and match win.
Defensively, the Cougars were paced by sophomore libero Stephanie Ramos (Jackson, N.J.) with 11 digs, while junior libero Ava Railton pulled 10.
Freshman RS Meredith Gatz (Millis, Mass.) contributed five kills and two blocks for CU.
The Cougars return home for a Senior Day matchup with Jefferson on Saturday at 11 a.m.
