Box Score PHILADELPHIA — Sophomore guard Jah'Nel Lewis (Jersey City, N.J.) had 17 points and junior forward Lucy Coogan (Kilkenny, Ireland) notched 15, but a fourth quarter run pushed #19 Holy Family past Caldwell, 69-55, in CACC women's basketball action at Campus Center on Saturday afternoon.
Trailing, 37-21, at halftime, the Cougars (9-7, 3-2 CACC) stormed back, opening the third quarter on a 12-2 run, then after a HFU basket scored the next five, capped by two free throws by sophomore guard Brooke Corbett (Staten Island, N.Y.) to pull to within 41-38 with 3:27 left. Then, with HFU clinging to a 43-40 lead, Coogan swished her third three pointer of the quarter to tie the game before a Lewis driving layup gave CU its first lead since early in the first quarter at 45-43 entering the fourth.
But HFU (14-3, 6-0) would regain the lead with a quick start to the final stanza, building a double-digit advantage, and though the Cougars twice got to within six, each time the Tigers answered with baskets to put the game out of reach.
Lewis added a team-best eight rebounds. She and Corbett had three assists each.
CU next hosts Post University on Wednesday at 5:30 at the Newman Center.
