LYNDHURST, N.J. -- The Caldwell University baseball season came to an end today in the first round of the CACC Tournament, with a pair of defeats to North #2 Felician, 7-3 and 13-1 at Breslin Field. The Cougars, who were the #3 North seed and had advanced to the tournament with a pair of wins over Dominican last week, finish 2024 at 10-25.
Senior left fielder
Zach Saunders (Adelphi, Md.) had hits in both games, and sophomore second baseman
Stephen Young Jr. Â (Middlesex, N.J.) was 2-for-4 with a double, run scored and RBI in game one.Â
Junior RF
Liam Lombardi (Stony Point, N.Y.) pitched in two RBI in game one for the Cougars as well.
Sophomore righty
Alfonso Esposito (Middlesex, N.J.) kept the Cougars in it in game one, firing five inning of relief, striking out five and allowing no earned runs.Â
In the nightcap, sophomore catcher
Christopher Bayo (Miami) had an RBI sacrifice fly in the first to tie the game at 1.Â
Felician (28-21) advances to the double-elimination round of the CACC Tournament next weekend.
