Lauren Marks (Parsippany, N.J.) again topped the squad at 19.26 pins/frame in the Baker format as the top-seeded and defending champion Caldwell Bowling team edged No. 2 Wilmington, 2-1, on Saturday at Pike Lanes.
The winners bracket triumph sent the Cougars to the Championship match, where they will again face Wilmington, who advanced through the loser's bracket in the second match on Saturday. The Cougars would have to win one of the two matches on Sunday beginning at noon to clinch the title.
In today's win over Wilmington, Sardis' and Glunk's heroics plus solid games by Marks (181), freshman
Allie Rumfield (Phillpsburg, N.J.) (171) and junior
Yoana Hyman-Cruz (Edison, N.J.) (156) led the Cougars to an 893-854 win in the Traditional format. In the Baker, Wilmington won, 951-855, setting up the best of seven, won by Caldwell, 4-1, to advance.
