Women's Soccer Earns #2 Seed, Will Host Chestnut Hill in CACC Tournament Monday

Cougars Have Posted Most Wins since 2018, Host QF for Second Straight Year

CALDWELL, N.J. -- Caldwell women's soccer has earned the #2 seed in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Tournament and will host seventh-seeded Chestnut Hill on Monday at 1 p.m. at Caldwell Athletic Field, the league announced today.

The Cougars finished the regular season at 9-2 in conference play, good for 27 points in the 12-team table and their most wins in league play since going 9-3 in 2016, when they won the CACC Championship. Caldwell's 11-4-1 overall record represents the most victories since a 12-win campaign in  2018, another league championship squad.

In the head-to-head matchup with Chestnut Hill on October 26 in Philadelphia, senior forward Melissa Martinez (Elizabeth, N.J.) scored the game-winner in the 64th minute in a 3-1 Cougars triumph.

The Cougars are paced offensively by junior forward Taina Gervais (Port-Au-Prince, Haiti) with 13 goals and four assists for 30 points. Martinez (9-7-25), and junior forward Rosio Cardenas (Forked River, N.J.) (5-2-12). Freshman midfielder Melissa Pires  (Elizabeth, N.J.) (4-1-9), freshman forward Ana Maria Pinzon (Medellin, Colombia) (1-6-8) and senior forward Kayla Willis (Union, N.J.) (3-0-6) have also been prolific scorers.

Junior goalkeeper Ariana Gaminara (Las Vegas) has been dominant in net, posting a 0.66 GAA and 89 saves.

The winner of the Caldwell-Chestnut Hill matchup will face the winner of #3 Wilmington vs. #6 Dominican on Thursday. If Caldwell wins, the contest will be at Caldwell Athletic Field. Should Chestnut Hill win, the semifinal game would be played at the Dominican-Wilmington winner's home pitch.
