CALDWELL, N.J., -- Caldwell women's basketball (1-1) fell in a tightly contested matchup with the Adelphi University Panthers (1-1) 61-55 in their second game of the Caldwell University Conference Challenge at the Newman Center.
Star sophomore point guard
Jah'Nel Lewis (Jersey City, N.J.) put on a show, scoring 20 points and knocking down two 3's.
Junior guard/forward
Lucy Coogan (Kilkenny, Ireland) was a force in the paint, tallying 16 points and grabbing eight rebounds.
CU played well throughout and overcame a five-point deficit (35-30) in the third quarter. Adelphi made some clutch free throws late to seal the win.
The Cougars defense forced 11 turnovers from the Panthers. There were three lead changes and two ties in the match.
Caldwell's next game will be against the Franklin Pierce University Ravens in the Daniel Sullivan Memorial Tournament at Dominican College in Orangeburg, N.Y. next Saturday at 3:30 PM.
