CALDWELL, N.J. -- Sophomore guard
Isaiah Philbert (Bronx, N.Y.) scored 14 points, leading three Cougars in double figures, but STAC used a decisive second half run to close out a 93-70 win at Newman Center on Thursday, ending CU men's basketball's season-opening six game winning streak.
The Cougars (6-1) trailed, 41-31, at the half, and after the teams traded baskets over the first seven minutes after the intermission, leading 54-44, the Spartans (5-3) went on a 9-2 run for a 17-point lead and the Cougars would get no closer than 14 the rest of the way.
Senior forward
Derrick Bueno (Palisades Park, N.J.) added 12 points and seven rebounds and now has 996 career points. Junior guard
Kirk Parsons (Newark, N.J.) pitched in 11.
The Cougars now take the Thanksgiving weekend off from competition before opening CACC play against Felician at the Newman Center on Tuesday, Dec. 3 at 7:30 p.m.
