Lewis Drops 22 Points As Women's Basketball Falls To Mercy

Corbett scores 11 points

CALDWELL, N.J. --  Star sophomore point guard Jah'Nel Lewis (Jersey City, N.J.) scored 22 points as Women's Basketball (2-3) lost its second game in a row in a 74-63 match to the Mercy College Mavericks (2-3) at the Newman Center.

Sophomore guard Brooke Corbett (Staten Island, N.Y.) got in double figures for the first time this season, scoring 11 points with four steals and seven rebounds.

Junior guard/forward Lucy Coogan (Kilkenny, Ireland) scored 10 points and did not commit a turnover.

Caldwell fought hard despite trailing by 12 in the fourth quarter. CU's 25 point effort ultimately came up short.

CU closed to within 59-55 with 3:47 to go but the Mavericks were able to hold off the Cougars' comeback attempt.

Caldwell played great defense, forcing Mercy to turn the ball over 17 times.

The Cougars will host their rival St. Thomas Aquinas College on Tuesday at 5 PM.
