CALDWELL, N.J. -- Sophomore guard Melvin Evans (Bronx, N.Y.) scored a career-high 17 points and sophomore forward Moussa Ngom (Dakar, Senegal) collected a team-best eight rebounds as Caldwell men's basketball fell, 92-77, to CACC North foe Dominican (13-6, 5-3 CACC) at the Newman Center on Monday.

After the Chargers jumped out to a 13-6 lead, the Cougars got back within two at 16-14 on a layup by sophomore guard Darnell Evans (Deer Park, N.Y.) and a pair of free throws by junior guard Mark Heber (Paterson, N.J.). But DU stretched its lead to 22 by halftime and though the Cougars got to within 13 at 68-55 with 11:42 left on a layup by sophomore guard Kirk Parsons (Newark, N.J.) and thunderous dunk by sophomore forward Landon Shivers (Egg Harbor Township, N.J.), the visitors would re-establish a 19 point lead and win going away.

Darnell Evans finished with 10 points and now has 997 in his career. Parsons and junior forward Derrick Bueno (Palisades Park, N.J.) had eight points each for CU.

Freshman guard Jamien Todd (Bronx, N.Y.) also scored his first four collegiate points.

The Cougars (8-9, 4-4) stay in CACC North play on Wednesday, hosting Felician at 7:30 at the Newman Center.
