Adelphi jumped out to leads of 7-1 and 10-4 before a 7-1 Cougars run, including four straight points on the right arm of Mack's service, tied the second set at 11. The Cougars would again battle to 19-17, but the Panthers would again finish the set with eight straight points.
Adelphi also finished the third set strong, turning a 16-13 lead with a string of nine straight to close out the match.
Sherwood had five kills to top the Cougars attack, and added eight digs.
Caldwell returns to CACC play with a home matchup with Jefferson on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Newman Center.
