Ariana Gaminara (Las Vegas, Nev.) made nine saves and recorded the shutout as Caldwell women's soccer (1-1) earned its first win of th season, a hard-fought, 1-0 triumph over New Haven at the Post University Classic at LaMoy Field.
Willis took a feed from junior midfielder
Presley Anderson (Denville, N.J.), fighting off two defenders to gain control, then turned and fired a left-footed shot past the keeper from about 10 yards out for the game's only tally. Senior midfielder
Ashley Georgevich (Saddle Brook, N.J.) was credited with an assist on the play as well.
Gaminara and the Cougars defense made the goal stand up, thwarting numerous Chargers attempts at the equalizer.Â
The game marked the first win at Caldwell for first-year Head Coach Sammy Adjei, who served as Bloomfield College's head coach in 2021 and 2022.
The Cougars return to action on Wednesday when they visit Molloy for a 7 p.m. start in Rockville Centre, N.Y., then open the home schedule on Friday vs. Lincoln University at 3 p.m. at Caldwell Athletic Field.
