LAKEWOOD, N.J. — Graduate Ana Gonzalez Martin (Toledo, España) used a strong final kick to vault into a second place finish with a new school record in the 3000-meter steeplechase and junior Alexis Byfield (Hawthorne, N.J.) scored in both the triple jump and high jump, leading the Cougars contingent on the second day of the CACC Women's Track & Field Championships at the Georgian Court University track complex.

Gonzalez Martin, who had placed third in the 10,000 meter run on Saturday, earned her second medal, passing two runners in the latter stages of the race to take silver with a time of 12:44.81. She also scored for Caldwell in the 5000 meters, finishing sixth in 20:30.86.

Byfield, who earned a bronze in the long jump on Saturday, scored a sixth place finish in the triple jump (school record 11.14m) and eighth in the high jump (1.47m) Sunday.

The 4x100 relay team of Byfield, senior Deneisha Williams (D'abadie, Trinidad and Tobago), freshman Chennaya Tschopp (Belleville, N.J.) and junior Sabina Neupane (Sindhuli, Nepal) came in just out of the medal at fourth (51.94) and the 4x400 squad of junior Gabriela Lopez (Belleville, N.J), soph Shamica Carey (Nassau, Bahamas), freshman Isabella Pollock (Fair Lawn, N.J.) and soph KJ Gordon (Latham, N.Y.) finished up the day by coming in fifth in 4:13.70.

Caldwell's results were good for a seventh place standing overall.
