CALDWELL, N.J. -- Freshman catcher/DH
Christopher Bayo (Miami) had home runs in both games and the Cougars rapped out 28 hits as Caldwell baseball swept a CACC doubleheader from Alliance at Kiwanis Oval, 16-6 and 15-0 in the final games of the season for both teams and Senior Day for Caldwell (17-24, 10-15).
In the opener, the Cougars erased an early 4-0 deficit with a two-run third, keyed by a leadoff solo home run by senior third baseman Micchael Lazzaro (Toms River, N.J.) and an RBI triple by graduate third baseman
Waldy Arias (Plainfield, N.J.), two-run fourth that featured RBI singles by senior DH
Kyle Richards (Sayreville, N.J.) and Arias. Bayo's solo homer in the fifth gave the Cougars their first lead, and the piled on two more in the inning before a nine-run sixth gave them an insurmountable lead. Richards had 4-for-5 with two runs scored and three RBI and freshman 2B
Stephen Young Jr. (Middlesex, N.J.) had two hits, including his second home run of the year, and five RBI in the game. Senior
Elias Negron (Virginia Beach, Va.) tossed three scoreless innings of relief for the victory.
In the nightcap, the Cougars got off to a fast start, plating four in the first on a three run home run Bayo and four more in the second, Arias' two-run triple the main damaging hit.Â

Chris Coleman (Wayne, N.J.) pitched 2 2/3 scoreless innings to get the win. Classmates
Connor Woods (Bethlehem, N.J.),
Michael Deusch (Oceanport, N.J.) and
Brian Mackey (New Milford, N.J.) and
Jerry Gamone (Union, N.J.) each tossed scoreless, hitless frames in their final respective collegiate games.
Seven seniors were honored between games: pitchers  Coleman, Deusch, Gamone,
Matthew Hanzich (Piscataway, N.J.), Mackey, Woods and Lazzaro.
